Trav went to the Reds game last night and brought home the menu from the 4192 Club. A brief sampling:


Chicken fingers and fries...$8.00
Fresh fruit ... $6.00
Hot dog ...$5.75
Barbeque pulled pork ... $7.75
Bottled soda ... $4.00
Bottled water ... $4.00
Bottled beer ... $6.00
Coffee ... $2.50

I know he was in the premium seats, but still. Is it any wonder that more people don't go to games?

My son, who has a good job, a beautiful, large home that he & his wife are paying for, also has tow daughters who love to go to baseball game (I suspect because their dad is a huge baseball fan). But the rarely get to go because to buy decent tickets (where they can sit without having their collective noses bleed) for the four of them & buy moderate snacks (what parents taking children [Joe's girls are ten & seven years old]do not have to buy snacks?) plus parking fees it costs over $100.00. Plenty steep for a working man with a family!!!!
I, for one, will never see the inside of the new stadium because I refuse to line Lindner's pockets with even more of our hard earned money!! They do have special deal days like head of household and family days as well as days for seniors and bleacher discount doays but it is really expensve to go to a game, esepcially for a family.
There are a few things you can do, like buy your water outside (it's usually $1) the bottles are a little smaller (and you have to keep them sealed until you get inside) but it's still much cheaper.
It makes it even tougher when they aren't in contention (last night's attendance 13,357) to justify spending the extra money to go for many fans. I pretty much only go if My Cubbies are in town.

Tickets here are still on the cheap side compared with other cities, but the consessions are on par or more than many other ballparks.

It is a nice place to see a game, with the river backdrop and the fact that there really dont seem to be any bad seats.
I like to sit in the outfield, great view, seats aren't too expensive.

It's not just the Reds, it's all sports. Read about old Crosley Field and the stories people tell about it....I guarantee there will be no such books written in 30 years regarding GABP.

Gonna have to call bullshit on this one. I've been to several Reds games and sat in the $5 or $10 dollar seats in the "Nosebleed" section and saw the game just fine.

I also doubt that 8&10 year old girls will really care where they sit. My guess is they don't watch the majority of the game anyway.

It's not that your family of four can't go to the game for under $100.....they just don't want to. Feed the young'uns before the game. Limit to one snack per child. $5 dollar seats. Not that hard! [img]graemlins/whatever.gif[/img]

The lower decks in left and right field are about $16-$18, if you get water outside and buy the doigs that the vendors bring around you can save a couple more bucks ($2 each I think).
Getting drunk at a ballgame will run you $30-$50 depending on your tolerance.
Split stuff, especial with kids. Things like pretzels and nachos and stuff like that.

Tough to make it like the old top six days, but you can still have a good time without going broke.

And be nice to all those Cubs fans who fill all those empty seats. LOL! [img]wink.gif[/img]

gae - I knew that was your point BUT I just had to vent a bit. I am so tired of "the rich get richer while the poor get poorer" theme.
And now we have to deal with the extremely high gas prices while the oil & gas companies get even more rich......................... don't even get me started.
